Business Analyst

Summary

Reporting to the VP of Sales, the Business Analyst is a financial and sales support role, focused on mining and interpreting data and analytics to help shape informed and effective programming, marketing and financial decisions.  The BA will work with the VPs of Sales and Marketing, and the Finance Team in the development of action plans to maximize our ability to turn insights and analytics into depletion and revenue growth.

The Business Analyst position requires a driven, passionate and committed professional with a creativity to help define the position as the company continues to procure more and better data.  The Business Analyst must be able to recognize and communicate the passion and enthusiasm that begins at the distillery, understand our product’s distinct characteristics, and communicate this whenever appropriate in an honest and authentic way.

Duties and Responsibilities

Data and Analytics Management

  • Responsible for mining and analyzing data and organizing findings into reports that will inform key stakeholders and assist all in making the best business decisions.
  • Monitor programming investments and use resource allocation models to develop key findings in order to measure effectiveness of all spends and programs.
  • Work with Accounting and Finance Departments in order to maintain and communicate up to date budget spending and resource allocation.
  • Update all reporting from relevant data sources, including but not limited to VIP, Nielsen, IWSR, distributor and account data, and organize raw data into useable formats for leadership to leverage into strategy and tactics.
  • Build and maintain depletion reporting documents that keep sales leadership informed of current trends, upcoming challenges and historical data.
  • Generate revenue tracking reports that analyze pricing, discounting, deal levels and sales incentives in order to manage budgeting and measure ROI of all pricing and discounting decisions.
  • Manage reporting cadence using Nielsen and sales surveys that measures lift generated by pricing and programming as it relates to Caledonia Spirits Brands as well as competitive brand activity.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, sales and finance teams in order to ensure that all decision makers and stakeholders have updated reporting and analytics on all sales and marketing investments and revenue driving activities.
  • Derive insights from sourced reporting that informs better revenue driving decisions and share with appropriate leadership.
  • Present business results and analysis to the greater team(s) and on occasion, the entire company during quarterly or annual internal meetings.
  • Maintain up to date trackers on all sales budgets and communicate to all stakeholders regularly.

Digital/Technology Management

  • Establish relationships with contacts at VIP, Nielsen and other relevant data source companies in order to ensure that we are achieving maximum benefit from our data partnerships.
  • Collaborate with local sales teams to ensure that all spirits pricing communications and surveys are accurate and within brand guidelines through VIP and Karma.
  • Master navigation within Caledonia Spirits systems – VIP, Expensify, Quickbooks and others in order to provide efficient and effective support as needed in the role.

General Management

  • Represent the company in alignment with the brand and company values.
  • Attend trainings, team meetings and other company-sponsored events as scheduled (physical presence required).
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary customer and company information.
  • Complete other projects and perform other duties in support of the company goals and objectives, as requested.

 Education and Experience 

Preferred: Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field of study, with at least 2 years of experience in the field, and experience in the premium and/or super premium spirits business.

Required: Any combination of education and experience likely to provide the skills, knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, paired with a proven track record of successfully working as part of a cross functional team.

Certifications and Licenses

Preferred:  CPA a plus, but not required.

E-Commerce Manager

Position Summary

Reporting to the Regional Sales Director, the E-Commerce Manager has a sales facing role, focused on programming to build our brands in the e-premise channel and cultivating partnerships with digital retail partners.  The ECM will work with the Regional Sales Director in the development of the e-commerce plan and then be directly responsible for its implementation and execution.

The E-Commerce Manager position requires a driven, passionate and committed sales professional with creativity to help define the position as the e-commerce channel emerges as a major factor in the spirits industry.  The E-Commerce Manager must be able to recognize and communicate the passion and enthusiasm that begins at the distillery, understand our product’s distinct characteristics, and communicate this to customers, partners and accounts in an honest and authentic way.

General Sales Management

  • Develop and implement sales driving programs with national and regional e-commerce delivery partners that lead to depletion and revenue target attainment for the e-premise channel.
  • Manage annual budget for the channel – partnership agreements, focus programming, feature periods – working with manager for budget planning, communication and execution.
  • Identify key opportunities within the e-premise channel resulting in increased brand exposure, depletions, other growth objectives.
  • Partner with the Marketing Department and Analytics Manager to develop and implement sales driving programs through strategic partner’s platforms (websites) and manage the execution through communication to regional sales teams.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with assigned e-commerce spirits delivery companies, including initiating new relationships with these partners for Caledonia Spirits.
  • Partner with Regional Sales Director and Marketing Department to develop and maintain 4 quarters of programming at all times that is aligned with the National Sales Plan and Strategy.
  • Ensures programming in the channel is communicated to sales team and leveraged for strategic objectives such as increased distribution and other growth objectives.
  • Drive market penetration and depletion growth through the establishment of new partnerships and through cultivating new relationships with all relevant stakeholders.
  • In conjunction with the sales team, establish any relevant relationships with distributor e-commerce personnel in order to maximize visibility and distribution throughout the retail network.
  • Procure account target lists collaboratively with strategic partners and Caledonia sales team to ensure distribution growth and presence in accounts that partner with e-commerce delivery companies. Communicate these targets and work with sales team and sales analyst to track results and monitor programming effectiveness.

Digital/Technology Management

  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to ensure all digital assets are up to date for all e-commerce strategic partners.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Department to develop and utilize effective digital POS in order to portray our brands in the most visible manner, conveying proper brand messaging.
  • Interface with e-commerce partners to ensure that our brands secure priority listings during consumer search occasions.
  • Collaborate with local sales teams to ensure that all spirits pricing communications are accurate and within brand guidelines.
  • Monitor and communicate any competitive insights that are relevant – price features, effective programming, best practices as examples.

Logistics Specialist

Location: Montpelier, VT

Logistics Specialist

 Position Summary and Responsibilities

The Logistics Specialist provides oversight and management of all aspects of materials flow, and is accountable for control over and accuracy of all goods inventories, all materials transactions, procurement, planning, scheduling, cost, warehouse management, receiving, and shipping to ensure that customer orders are fulfilled according to schedule.

As a member of the Vermont-based team, the Logistics Specialist will be based in our Montpelier, VT distillery. This position will also develop and manage supplier relationships to promote and support the interests of the company.

Requirements

Current understanding of industry best practices and technology trends. The position requires the ability to work communicate effectively and professionally, verbally and in writing, and to prepare clearly-written correspondence. Also the ability to identify, utilize and leverage tools, processes and metrics to optimize supplier value and performance. Ability to think strategically and act tactically to execute plans and meet objectives.

Packaging Assistant

Location: Montpelier, Vermont

A full-time Packaging Assistant position is currently available at our Distillery in Montpelier. This position has a first-shift, Monday through Friday schedule. Packaging Assistants primarily work in the bottling area and support all functions of the distillery, with opportunities to learn the full scope of production and packaging.

Position Duties and Responsibilities: Packaging Assistant duties include bottling and packaging of products, packing orders, occasional forklift operation (on-site training provided), and general production and distillery support.

Requirements: The bottling and packaging of our spirits and honey reflect the high quality of our products. Team members responsible for these functions must have strong attention to detail, the ability to maintain focus and accuracy with repetitive tasks, be conscientious and able to carefully follow processes and instructions, and be a positive contributor to the efforts and goals of the team.

Due to the variety of tasks assigned, Packaging Assistants must be able to stand and/or sit for the duration of shifts. Frequent bending, reaching and lifting of up to 60 pounds, as well as hand dexterity with the ability to squeeze and operate simple hand tools are also required to perform the essential functions of the position.
